LA FREEDOM CAUCUS TO CASSIDY: SUPPORT RFK, JR

BATON ROUGE—As Americans face a chronic disease epidemic, the US Senate is debating the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of HHS. The Louisiana Freedom Caucus sent a letter today urging Senator Cassidy’s support.

“America is in a health crisis and Louisiana is ranked as the least healthy state. We are gravely concerned! Our maternal and fetal health outcomes are the worst in the nation,” said Beryl Amedee, Freedom Caucus Chair. She added, “The majority of our state health budget is spent treating conditions that are completely preventable.”

The letter referenced data indicating that more than 43% of children in this country suffer from chronic disease. It also mentioned Americans’ loss of trust in public health and listed some of Kennedy’s practical solutions to reverse the health crisis and restore that trust, including freeing federal regulatory agencies from corporate influence and returning to evidence-based science.

“Kennedy has come to Louisiana and testified in Committee. He is clearly concerned about our health—especially the health of our children. And he has the right ideas to turn this crisis around! It is our hope that the Senate confirms Kennedy for HHS Secretary,” Amedee said.

It's Time for a Louisiana JD Vance - Will Blake Miguez Make A Senate Run In 2026?

So far, the names you hear most frequently as potential opponents for Bill Cassidy in 2026 are State Treasurer John Fleming, who has already announced he’s running, Public Service Commissioner Eric Skrmetta, and Congressman Clay Higgins.

Any one of them, in a head-to-head matchup with Cassidy, is more than capable of knocking off the incumbent. Let’s face it, Cassidy has made his name poison with the people of Louisiana and particularly among the state’s Republicans.

That makes Cassidy’s re-election fairly problematic.

Op-ed: Senator Bill Cassidy’s Leadership in Carbon Capture is a Game-Changer for Louisiana’s Economy

Louisiana is on the verge of a transformative economic boom, thanks to the leadership of U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy. Carbon capture, a critical component of our future energy infrastructure, is not just a tool for environmental protection—it is also poised to attract billions of dollars in new industrial investments to the state. With over $20 billion in announced carbon capture projects in Louisiana, the state stands to gain approximately $90 million in permanent jobs and $80 million in local tax revenue. Sen. Cassidy’s efforts have positioned Louisiana as a leader in the low-carbon economy, creating a win-win scenario for both the environment and economic development.

Carbon capture is an essential part of decarbonizing industries, and Louisiana is uniquely situated to take advantage of this opportunity. The state's geography, with its extensive industrial base and geology suitable for carbon sequestration, makes it a natural hub for this technology. As industries and governments worldwide look for ways to reduce carbon emissions, Louisiana is ready to serve as a model for the future.

Sen. Cassidy has been instrumental in bringing federal resources to the state, securing significant funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This funding has enabled several major carbon capture projects to move forward. For example, the Direct Air Capture (DAC) hub, known as Project Cypress, located in Southwest Louisiana, will receive up to $603 million in federal funding. This project alone is expected to create 2,300 jobs and remove one million metric tons of CO2 annually from the atmosphere.

In addition to Project Cypress, Louisiana is home to numerous other carbon capture projects, such as the $46.8 million in grants for CO2 storage initiatives in the Louisiana Chemical Corridor and offshore storage hubs near Monkey Island. These projects are not only creating immediate jobs but also laying the foundation for a long-term economic boom as companies look to invest in cleaner, more sustainable technologies.

His leadership has also fostered collaboration with academic institutions like Louisiana State University (LSU), ensuring that the state remains at the forefront of energy innovation. The National Science Foundation (NSF) is partnering with LSU and several other leading state universities, including the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, McNeese State University, and Southern University, on a groundbreaking initiative to explore the use of carbon capture technologies and hydrogen as alternative fuels.

This research provides $160 million in critical funding to develop next-generation, low-carbon technologies. Recently, FUEL connected Louisiana industry to NewLab entrepreneurs throughout the country in an effort to spur innovation and drive business growth through carbon capture. FUEL’s goals extend beyond technology and research. A portion of the grant funding will go to supporting job creation through workforce development programs that can reach all corners of our state.

The importance of carbon capture for Louisiana’s economy cannot be overstated. Not only are these projects creating thousands of good-paying jobs, but they are also generating innovation, new business ventures, and significant ripple effects throughout the state economy. As the global economy shifts towards low-carbon markets, industries that rely on carbon capture will continue to grow, bringing even more investment and opportunities to the state—including increasing demand for low-carbon steel, sustainable, lightweight plastics, and power for data centers.

Louisiana’s future as an energy leader is bright, and much of that success can be attributed to Sen. Cassidy’s efforts. His work to secure federal funding and promote carbon capture technology has set Louisiana on a path to economic growth, ensuring we remain relevant in the increasingly global energy market. Thanks to Sen. Cassidy’s vision and leadership, Louisiana is poised to lead the way in the energy transition, creating a cleaner, more prosperous future for all.

Kennedy, Cassidy demand Biden admin withdraw rule that would transfer $147 billion in student debt to Louisiana taxpayers

“. . . taxpayers are being forced to take on the debt of nearly 28 million borrowers.”

WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) joined Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) and colleagues in urging the Biden administration’s Department of Education (DOE) to withdraw its proposed rule that would transfer an additional $147 billion in student loan debt to American taxpayers. If implemented, the rule would bring the total debt transferred to Americans to as much as $1 trillion.

In April, the DOE published its proposed rule, which would amend regulations in the Higher Education Act of 1965 to waive student loan debt for tens of millions of borrowers.

“The Biden administration describes this regulation as ‘targeted relief,’ yet the Department’s own estimates show the opposite. This is even broader than the Department’s first attempt: at an estimated price tag of $147 billion, taxpayers are being forced to take on the debt of nearly 28 million borrowers,” the lawmakers wrote.

“In addition to the fiscally irresponsible nature of this backdoor attempt to enact ‘free’ college, the administration continues to use borrowers as political pawns knowing full well these proposed actions are illegal. The Supreme Court [made] it abundantly clear that there is zero authority to write-off federal student loans en masse last June when the Department’s ‘Plan A’ was ruled unconstitutional,” they continued.

The lawmakers also raised concerns because the Biden administration dedicated resources to drafting a “Plan B” to cancel student loans for Americans who already attended college after “Plan A” failed in the Supreme Court, but it did not make the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available to prospective college students.

“Failure to make the FAFSA available to these prospective students on time will have life-long consequences for many young Americans. We already know, as of March 29, FAFSA completion for seniors in high school is down by 40 percent. Those who do not file will likely not attend college next year and maybe never will,” they wrote.

The lawmakers concluded by urging the Biden administration to work with Congress to solve the higher education financing crisis.

BILL CASSIDY VOTES FOR BIDEN NOMINEE ENDORSED BY FAUCI

Nominee Bertagnolli received over $350 million from Big Pharma

BATON ROUGE—U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy has once again proven he is out of touch with the people of Louisiana by voting to advance President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the National Institutes of Health out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Dr. Monica Bertagnolli’s career reflects everything that is corruptive of America’s medical bureaucracies.

From the beginning, Bertagnolli has been underwritten by grants from the who’s who of Big Pharma: Pfizer, Seagen, AstraZeneca, Janssen, Takeda, Exelixis, Celgene, Novartis, Genetech and Millennium. These pharmaceutical companies have given her control of over $350 million in grants, endowing her with a personal salary and benefits package approaching $2 million.

As chair of the non-profit American Society of Clinical Oncology during the Trump Administration, she led the pushback against most favored nations status for the American people in drug pricing. Americans foot most of the bill for research and development of medicines yet pay some of the highest pharmaceutical prices in the world.

Bertagnolli served as an independent director at the Natera medical diagnostics company that specialized in prenatal tests for certain rare disorders. The New York Times exposed these tests as having an 85% failure rate. Given her medical and scientific expertise, it is difficult to understand, in her oversight capacity, why Bertagnolli would have let those tests go to market. She reaped hundreds of thousands of dollars in lucrative director’s fees and stock options on Natera and another biotech company, Leap. Bertagnolli left both boards when she accepted the position as head of the National Cancer Institute in 2022. Natera is a partner with the National Cancer Institute.

“Anyone endorsed by Anthony Fauci to replace him in his former role at the National Institutes of Health should be rejected outright. What should be required of the new Director is to review Fauci’s actions specifically in regard to illegal gain of function funding during the lead-up to the laboratory leak in Wuhan, China, that caused the COVID pandemic. Common sense would dictate that the candidates being considered should not have extensive ties to Big Pharma and the former director himself. Accountability and reform of one of our most preeminent health care agencies cannot happen with the heavy hand of those most responsible influencing that process. We call on Bill Cassidy to reverse his vote in committee when the nominee comes to the floor of the Senate and vote against this compromised candidate,” said Rep. Beryl Amedée, Secretary-Treasurer and founding member of the Louisiana Freedom Caucus.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thanks to Sen. Cassidy for Supporting the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act

Dear Editor,

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to Senator Cassidy for his dedicated efforts to improve healthcare in our nation. The introduction of the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) is a commendable step forward in addressing the issue of obesity in our country.

If the TROA becomes law, it could lead to positive changes in our healthcare policy. By passing this bill, Congress would update old rules that currently prevent Medicare from covering specific treatments for obesity. Additionally, it would make it easier for individuals to access therapy aimed at helping with obesity. This bill has the potential to contribute significantly to our fight against obesity, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for many Americans. Moreover, it has the capacity to improve the overall functioning of our healthcare system.

Senator Cassidy's support for the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act is huge for this effort. As a doctor and the top republican on the Senate HELP committee, he has a chance to bring this bill to the forefront of Congressional attention.

TROA has the potential to make a substantial difference in the lives of countless Americans who are grappling with obesity. By not only improving access to healthcare but also potentially preventing avoidable deaths and promoting better well-being, this legislation represents a positive step forward.

Thank you again to Senator Cassidy for his commitment to addressing this crucial issue. Should the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act come to fruition, it holds the promise of positively impacting families and individuals on a wide scale. Senator Cassidy's leadership in championing the revival of this law is poised to leave a lasting legacy of enhanced health and well-being for numerous Americans.

Thanks to Dr. Cassidy for his dedication to a healthier future!

Sincerely,

Shayne Benedetto

LA FREEDOM CAUCUS REMINDS SEN. CASSIDY OF TRUMP SUPPORT AMONG LA VOTERS

BATON ROUGE—The Louisiana Freedom Caucus would like to remind Sen. Bill Cassidy, who on Sunday called for President Donald Trump to drop out of the race for President, that Donald Trump got more votes in Louisiana than any other politician ever. Twice. In the 2020 election, 26,868 more Louisianans voted for President Trump than voted for Sen. Cassidy.

Currently, polling averages in Louisiana ending August 14, 2023, compiled by FiveThirtyEight.com, show Donald Trump leading the race with 75% of the Republican primary vote, which is an average of +65% ahead of the next closest candidate.

“The Louisiana Freedom Caucus is here to ensure that the laws and policies of the State of Louisiana align with the political beliefs and desires of our people. It is clear, the people of Louisiana strongly support President Trump. Accordingly, we suggest that Sen. Cassidy may want to rethink his position,” said Alan Seabaugh, Chairman of the Louisiana Freedom Caucus.

Holden Hoggatt Touts His Endorsement by "Lions of Acadiana"

In what has to be the dumbest political move in his campaign to replace Rep. Clay Higgins of District 3 - LA, Holden Hoggatt is touting the endorsement of three “Lions of Acadiana”. Who do these lions consist of? None other than establishment politicians like Democrats John Breaux and Chris John and RINO Charles Boustany.

“Today I’m proud to receive the endorsement of leaders who ushered in historic prosperity for our families and businesses, and showed up for our families on good days and bad for more than 50 years of combined service in Congress,” Hoggatt said in news release.

These 6 Republicans Voted Against Ousting Fauci

More Proof that Cassidy Has Gone Full Swamp Creature

The following piece from Breitbart shows that our own Sen. Bill Cassidy can be easily bought off to sell out both his country and his state when he voted for this “infrastructure bill”.

A total of 32 House and Senate Republicans helped push President Joe Biden’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure package over the finish line, most of whom have been showered with campaign cash from the leading lobbying group behind the bill — the United States Chamber of Commerce.

And it seems that Cassidy is willing to sell us out for a mere $5000:

Sullivan, Blunt, Graham, Portman, McConnell, and Collins each have taken $10,000 from the U.S. Chamber PAC in recent election cycles from 2015 to this year. Cassidy, Capito, Burr, Fischer, Murkowski, and Risch have each received $5,000 from the PAC, while Grassley last received money, $1,500, from the PAC in 2016.

For someone that rode to coattails of Trump to re-election and summarily knifed him in the back shortly thereafter, it’s apparent that this “Senator” is a full swamp creature now.

Bill Cassidy backs proposal to raise federal gas tax at rate of inflation to fund infrastructure

220px-Bill_Cassidy_official_Senate_photo.jpg

U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy said Tuesday he's supportive of a bipartisan proposal to raise the federal gas tax at the rate of inflation to help fund more than half-a-trillion dollars in new infrastructure spending, though the idea is facing headwinds from the White House.

Cassidy, a Republican, is part of a bipartisan group of 10 senators calling for $579 billion in additional federal spending on the nation's roads and bridges, a compromise well below the $1.7 trillion in new spending President Joe Biden initially outlined but higher than a GOP proposal offered last week.

VIDEO: Senator Cassidy Kitchen Table Wins!

In anticipation of Senator Bill Cassidy qualifying for re-election later this week, Louisiana Legacy has released a video highlighting the senior senator's six years in the United States Senate, with the help of conservative legislators from all across the state.

Since defeating Mary Landrieu in 2014, Senator Cassidy has quickly become a leader in Washington D.C. on issues like healthcare, energy, and now, combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Senator Cassidy has fought for families and often tackled what he calls "kitchen table issues" -- those that impact everyday, hard working Americans. He partnered with President Trump's daughter and White House Advisor Ivanka Trump to pass the Paid Family Leave Act helping families navigate the crucial first years of a child's life. He has championed mental health awareness and assistance for Veterans; he has fought to bring transparency to medical billing and reduce the cost of prescription drugs. Here in Louisiana, he has worked to protect our coast and safeguard our oil and gas jobs.
Six years is simply not enough. We need Bill for six more!

We need to re-elect US Senator Bill Cassidy for US Senate!

Cassidy: The Democratic Party Should Change Its Name Due to Its Racist Past

The Democratic Party was founded by slave owners. These slave owners insisted upon a constitution which preserved slavery. The Democratic Party opposed Republican efforts to end slavery. The Democratic Party opposed Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. After the Civil War, Democrats opposed Republican efforts to give newly freed slaves voting rights and civil rights. In more recent times, Democratic members of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives fought Civil Rights legislation, beginning with Republican President Dwight Eisenhower’s Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Democratic governors fought integration of schools and public services, and the list goes on. It took courageous decisions by Republican judges and the enforcement of these laws by President Eisenhower who at one point called out the military to overcome resistance.

Two Democratic luminaries, Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black and long serving Senator Robert Byrd, were members of the KKK as young men.
